Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is our highest priority at Uplands Junior L.E.A.D. Academy. Every child has the right to be safe, cared for, valued and protected, and we are unwavering in our commitment to creating a culture where safeguarding underpins every aspect of school life.
As stated in the Department for Education’s Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance,“safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility” and a child-centred approach must be at the heart of all decisions and actions.
At Uplands Junior L.E.A.D. Academy, we recognise our statutory duty of care to ensure that all children, staff and members of our school community are protected from harm. We are committed to providing a safe, secure and supportive environment where children feel respected, listened to and empowered to thrive both academically and personally.
Our holistic approach to safeguarding ensures that children are protected from abuse, neglect, exploitation and harm, both online and offline. We work proactively to identify concerns, provide early support and collaborate with families and external agencies when needed. By embedding safeguarding throughout our curriculum, policies and daily practice, we strive to ensure that every child is given the opportunity to grow into a confident, responsible and successful young person, achieving their full potential in a safe and nurturing environment.

Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do at Uplands Junior L.E.A.D. Academy and is our highest priority. We are committed to ensuring that every child is safe, valued and supported to achieve their full potential. Safeguarding encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including protecting children from harm, promoting their physical and mental wellbeing, preventing impairment of their development, supporting families and ensuring that all children have the opportunity to thrive.
We take a proactive approach to safeguarding and implement a wide range of measures to keep our pupils safe. These include providing regular safeguarding training for all staff, maintaining robust safeguarding policies and procedures, monitoring attendance closely, ensuring a safe and secure learning environment, and promoting high standards of behaviour in line with our academy expectations. Through our curriculum, we also equip children with the knowledge and skills they need to stay safe, including understanding risks, developing healthy relationships, celebrating diversity, maintaining healthy lifestyles and navigating the online world safely and responsibly.
A strong culture of safeguarding is embedded across every aspect of academy life. We pride ourselves on building positive relationships with our children and families, enabling us to understand the unique needs of individuals as well as the wider community we serve. By working together, we create a nurturing environment where children feel safe, respected and empowered to succeed.

As an academy, we have a responsibility to provide a safe environment in which children can learn. We will make every effort to identify children who may benefit from early help and put in place support as soon as a problem emerges at any point in a child’s life.
We pride ourselves in the commitment we have to ensuring children are safe at school as well as at home. All children, regardless of age, gender, ability, culture, race, language, religion or sexual identity are treated equally and have equal rights to protection. Every staff member at school as a duty to ensure children are safe.

Miss Moulvi, along with the school council, have updated the child friendly safeguarding posters. These will be displayed in every classroom and around the school. Well done to the team for their input.
