Our Year 3 children recently enjoyed an exciting trip to the Shree Hindu Temple and Community Centre on St Barnabas Road. During the visit, the children learned about the many Hindu gods and goddesses and what each one represents. They discovered how Hindus worship through prayer, music, and offerings such as fruit and flowers. The children were fascinated by the ringing of bells and the use of instruments during worship, which create a joyful and spiritual atmosphere.
We had the privilege of watching a live worship session, observing prayers and offerings being made. Afterwards, the temple leaders gave a talk explaining the significance of the gods and goddesses in Hinduism. The children were able to link this experience back to their classroom learning and enjoyed identifying similarities and differences between Hindu worship and other religions they have studied. It was a wonderful opportunity to deepen their understanding of faith and community.
