The match was tightly contested, with chances falling to both sides, but neither team could break the deadlock. As the final whistle blew, the reality of a penalty shootout set in. Uplands won the toss and stepped up to take the first shot. Midway through the shootout, Taylor Road led 1–0, and the pressure was mounting.
Then came a turning point—Uplands equalised after four attempts, bringing the score to 1–1. With everything riding on the final kick, nerves were visible across the pitch. The ball was struck low towards the bottom corner—Taylor Road’s keeper missed. Relief swept across the Uplands team. But it wasn’t over yet.
Taylor Road’s final penalty taker stepped up, only to be met by a focused Goalkeeper. With a stunning save, Rayyan secured Uplands’ place in the final. The team erupted in celebration.
While waiting for the other semi-final and the 3rd/4th place playoff, the Uplands boys watched closely, discussing tactics and preparing mentally for the final.
In the final, Uplands faced a strong Hope Hamilton side. Despite a competitive performance and five consecutive saves from Rayyan, Uplands couldn’t find the net. Hope Hamilton managed to score twice, sealing a 2–0 victory.
Although the result wasn’t in Uplands’ favour, the boys showed incredible resilience, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Their journey to the final was a testament to their hard work and determination.
