The children in Year 4 had the pleasure of visiting the new Jewry Wall Museum in Leicester. 4 Hazel and 4 Holly attended on Monday, followed by 4 Cherry and 4 Apple on Tuesday. On both days, the children were greeted by friendly and welcoming staff and then began to explore the museum. One of the highlights was undoubtedly the fantastic immersive experience which, using some superb CGI effects, took the children back 2000 years to a city called Ratae (now known as Leicester). They followed a young boy as he explored the city and learned how a team of archaeologists, many years later, unearthed the secrets of Leicester’s Jewry Wall, discovering it was in fact the site of Roman baths. The museum itself is ultra-modern, so it was really appealing to the children. They learned about the lives people led in Roman Britain and also had the opportunity to handle artefacts over 1500 years old! On top of all that, they also received a guided tour of the remains of the bath house, learning how they worked and what people did when they visited the baths. It was a fantastic excursion and a really great experience for all.
