P.E. Curriculum

Curriculum Overview

At Uplands Junior LEAD Academy, all children are timetabled 2 hours of Physical Education per week. One lesson is delivered by the PE Coordinator, the other by their class teacher. The curriculum is designed so that children can participate in a broad range of activities. These activities are groups as follows:

  • Athletics – Track, Field
  • Dance
  • Games – Invasion, Net, Striking & Fielding
  • Gymnastics
  • Outdoor Adventurous Activities – Problem Solving, Orienteering
  • Swimming
  • Fitness and Healthy lifestyles

PE Timetable

During the academic year 2019/2020, the curriculum will be divided into 6 blocks to divide the year into equal sections. This now means that the timetable change does not fall it the start of each term. It is advised that children bring their PE kit to school for the whole week.

PE Uniform

At Uplands, having a PE uniform looks smart and promotes unity. It also helps to develop children’s awareness of health and hygiene. The PE uniform consists of:

  • Royal Blue Logo T-Shirt,
  • Black tracksuit bottoms / leggings / shorts
  • Trainers (Plimsolls may be worn, however these provide less support. Gymnastics is completed in barefoot),
  • PE Bag

If for any reason your child is unable to participate in practical sessions or has to wear an alternative kit, a note must be submitted from the parent prior to the start of the lesson. Participation within PE will be monitored and tracked regularly.

Health & Safety

  • Hair which is greater or equal to shoulder length must be tied back
  • All jewellery must be removed by the child (Earrings, necklaces/Tawaaz, Bracelets, Rings and watches)
  • Headscarves/prayer caps must be removed as they can get caught, cause injury, become a slip hazard
