Competitive Sport

Intraschool (Level 1) competitions are events which enable children to compete against other children at Uplands. These tournaments could be individual, class based, class v class (within year group) or across school.

At the start of each academic year, children (and staff) are allocated to a colour group. These groups are named after parks within Leicester.

  • Abbey (Red)
  • Bradgate (Blue)
  • Spinney (Green)
  • Victoria (Yellow)

During the academic year, points are awarded for position in the tournament / challenge, and demonstrating other positive behaviours / attitudes which meet the spirit of the games / LEAD Award categories. Points can also be deducted. These point deductions, not only have an impact on the class but also across the school.

Points are totalled up for each class / year and across the whole school. Due to different activities and events, we do not compare in colour groups against other classes.

Interschool tournaments are events which allow children to compete against other schools. Currently, Uplands takes part in Leicester School Sports Partnership, Leicester City Football League and events organised by Moat Community College.
